As I seem to upload so many photo's I thought it best to let Frankie have a page of his own :-)
Frankie is Maddie's 3rd foal and he is by Primitive Rising. We have registered him as Primitive Missile at Weatherby's as Maddie is by Cruise Missile.
He is a very big boy indeed, he is 17.3hh so we have left it very late to back him. We did intend to back him last year as a 5yo but what with time and work and other horses to keep fit he has had to wait till now! I did lunge and put the saddle and bridle on him in the Autumn and he was very good, but now we have to get going with him!
So I thought it a good idea to share his progress :-)

Easter Monday...We lunged him today for the first time this year in the school but this time without any barriers to make a round pen. He was good, turned in a couple of times especially on the right rein but soon learn't not to!
He was tired after 15-20 mins so we left it on a good note :-)
I hosed him off as it was a glorious day and he'd was pretty sweaty! Here are some photo's of Frankie looking very bored and wanting to get back out with his mates!!

30th March 2005, We put the saddle on him today to lunge. He had it on last Autumn but not since then and he was 'good as gold' about it :-)
Still no side reins attached and just concentrating on getting him going round without turning in. He was very good on the left today and better on the right although he did try it a couple of times.
The school looks an 'eyesore' at the moment as we are waiting for the JCB to come and level the bank, then we can fence it off again.

Frankie has been going really well and we decided that today was the day to back him!
So today Dan legged me up and I laid over his back, he was very relaxed and we repeated that several times. In fact he was so good that I got brave and said to Dan that I wanted to actually sit on him (Frankie not Dan LOL) So Dan legged me up again and this time I slowly put my leg over ! He was very good and we walked him a few strides and left it on a good note! :-)

I got on Frankie again today! He was very good and we walked round several times on each rein. I haven't sat up straight yet! but here's some pics :-)

Well we are sitting up now and walking out on the lunge :-) He is very quick to learn and is halting when I ask and walking on when I ask with my voice and my legs. Next time we will have a little trot! Wish me luck as if I'm going to go into space it'll probably be then lol
2nd June 2005
Well we had our first trot today! :-) Frankie was a good boy and so far hasn't done a rodeo act! I'm still waiting for that to happen but so far so good LOL
1st July 2005
Well we hacked out for the first time today and Frankie was a really good boy! Dan rode Troy as it was best to take his friend with him and Frankie was even brave enough to go ahead of Troy in a few places. I can't tell you how that feels to finally ride him out like a grown up boy! :-)

Dan rode Frankie today and got him trotting forwards :-) I'm a bit soft with him and baby him a bit and it was good to see Dan on him riding him much more positively than I do. It was nice to see his lovely stride from the ground!
